A PROUD
HISTORY

Tanjil South Primary School has been a cornerstone of its community since its establishment in 1887, reflecting the area’s transition from pastoral lands to a thriving agricultural settlement in the late 19th century. This rich history is detailed in the publication Settlers and Selectors: Tanjil Hills to Tanjil South by Joan Hasthorpe and J.G. Rogers, which offers insights into the school’s development, including lists of former teachers and pupils, and its role within the broader district’s evolution.

Located in the rural locality of Tanjil South, approximately 7 km north of Moe, the school has maintained its commitment to providing quality education in a close-knit environment. Over the years, it has adapted to the changing needs of its community while preserving the values that have defined it for over a century.

Today, Tanjil South Primary School continues to honor its legacy by fostering a nurturing educational environment that emphasizes personalized learning, community engagement, and respect for the land’s traditional custodians, the Gunaikurnai people.
