Welcome to Tanjil South Primary School, where your child’s growth, happiness, and success are our top priorities.

As a small, close-knit school, we take pride in offering a nurturing and personalized learning environment that feels more like an extension of your family than a formal institution. We know that when parents, teachers, and the community work together, children thrive, and this partnership is at the core of everything we do.

At TSPS, we focus on meeting the individual needs of each student. Our dedicated staff deliver a tailored curriculum designed to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. In 2024, we are continuing to strengthen our commitment to literacy, maths, science, the arts, and student agency, with a special emphasis on fostering creativity and critical thinking. Our school-wide phonics and spelling program remains a cornerstone of our literacy efforts, ensuring every student builds strong foundational skills in reading and writing.

We developing a method of supporting our students’ understanding of their own learning journey through developing student goal folders. These folders are crafted specifically for their personal growth and are developed through close collaboration between students and staff, ensuring clear, achievable goals that help every child reach their full potential. In our small school setting, we have the flexibility to provide meaningful, individualised support, challenging each student to stretch and grow every day.

At the heart of TSPS are our core values: Community, Achievement, Respect, and Empathy. These values guide us as we work to create a safe, caring, and stimulating environment where your child can build lifelong friendships, develop strong character, and experience the joy of learning.

We invite you to become part of our school family, where your child’s success is our shared journey, and every day is an opportunity to grow together.

Welcome to Tanjil South Primary School —we look forward to partnering with you on this exciting educational adventure!

Engagement

Attendance

At Tanjil South Primary School, we recognize that family life can present challenges, but we prioritize regular student attendance. Following the Inner Gippsland Attendance process and the Department of Education's Policy, we use a traffic light system to report attendance compliance to parents. Together with parents and students, we create a supportive environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive academically and socially.

Attitudes to School Survey

At TSPS, we value students beyond numbers. High Student Attitudes to School survey data reflects our commitment to positive attitudes, problem-solving, and support for all learners. Our safe, connected, and inclusive environment discourages bullying, encourages inter-age interaction, and offers varied extracurricular activities with a touch of humor.

Our School Dog

In 2022, Tanjil South Primary School welcomed Winnie, an aspiring wellbeing dog As Winnie continues her training, she will gradually integrate into the school community, offering valuable support to students in their daily activities, enhancing their overall well-being.

Wellbeing

The Song Room

In 2022, Tanjil South Primary School actively engaged in the transformative Duet Progam and the Kaleidoscope Music Program, developed by The Song Room. This innovative in-school arts and wellbeing initiative addressed social-emotional issues while incorporating trauma-informed teaching and social-emotional learning practices. Collaborating with a skilled musician, the students enthusiastically participated in songwriting and recording sessions, creating a meaningful connection to their work. Among their creations was the captivating song "Where's Llew," inspired by the remarkable story of an award-winning entomologist who once graced the school in the early 1900s.

In 2023, the school continued the great work and developed a musical called "The Entomologist's Dream" based on the song "Where's Llew". It was an outstanding student creation.

IN 2024 the school will team up again with The Song Room to develop another amazing performace arts based project.

The Reslilence Project

TSPS stated the journey of undertaking The Reslience Project (TPR) in 2024. We have committed to the project for 3 years and already we have noticed how with just a few new inclusions from the project, our school community already demonstrate and practise a lot of Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness. With Hugh and Martin from TPR insiring us every day to be the best humans we can be it is sure to be a successful journey.
